Hurry up and die
Many years ago when I was a shift worker, the beaches were my personal Zen gardens. A few scattered souls, maybe a lone seagull. It was like having the entire coastline to myself.
But I've watched it slowly change.
Fast forward to now, and it's a goddamn retirement home out there. Every bald headed and silver-haired surfer thinks he's Kelly Slater reincarnated. I don't know if they didnt have surf etiquette in the 60s and 70s or if they've just forgotten after a 40 year hiatus.
It's like a goddamn boomer apocalypse. To survive you have to dodge the arthritic drop ins.
But don't dare question them. They know it all. Just ask them. They've been surfing for 40+ years. Let's just ignore the years they didn't.
Hurry up and die.
Edit: oh wow didn't realise how many Boomer's were on here. You'd think a surfing sub would be mostly 20 and 30 year Olds. But looks like there's a heap of Boomer's. The type that hang out after a session and spend hours talking about what fins they have.
Edit edit: I swear only the boogers look like they are still having any fun these days. Surfing culture is horrible now. We've been invaded by middle and upper class managers. They used to be the enemy. Now they are literally the crowd.
