Should I Keep or Remove My Impacted Canine? Seeking Advice After 20 Months of Braces
I have an impacted canine in my upper teeth, which started to emerge after I began wearing braces (I’ve had them on for about 20 months now). My dentist mentioned that I have two options:
- Bringing Down the Canine: To make space, I’d need to have a tooth below it removed and another tooth trimmed. The whole process would take about a year.
- Removing the Impacted Canine: This option is simpler and wouldn’t require removing or trimming other teeth.
My dentist recommends removal since it would be faster, but I’m concerned about the long-term effects. Will bringing the impacted canine down make a difference in my facial structure, or does it not matter much in the long run? Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!
