How do I move on from this situation?

Throwaway account.
I was preparing for entrances in June 2024 when I met this girl (18F) on an exam subreddit. Lets call her P. So we began replying to each other in the comments on a post, when I dmed her to ask a doubt as she seemed proficient in the subject. The conversation moved along, and we realised that we had similar interests and we began talking. After the exam season, we were free for around 1-2 months before results and college joining. Both being introverts, we quickly became each other's best friends in a short while.

We were inseperable, and would spend all of our time together. Then something insane happened. We converted the same college, which was one of the good ones we were targeting. I was excited because I was going to have her as a batchmate in real life.

She ended up asking me out, before we joined college. I told her that I do not indulge in online dating, might as well wait till we join college and meet each other. I guess that she did not take this properly then. Over the remaining time, I began having feelings for her too.

As we came to college, I was excited to meet her. However, she never paid any attention to me, didnt even acknowledge my existence for a bit. Later she told people that I was after her and chased her around, and she had to force me away. I am stuck without a friend that I had and got attached to, and much of my friend group formed before college is gone. Now I am stuck with her in this college for eight semesters.

I am holding on in academics, have managed to get a very good CGPA and have been able to make new friends. However, some good people out there think I chased P around, which is why they dislike me. I cant really blame them for thinking, but it just hurts. As for P, it has been hard getting over her but I will eventually. It just hurts because I genuinely thought of her as a smart and mature person, and now I have lost a lot of trust in friendships and relationships. She was the closest girl to me.
